What rights do you think all citizens of the United States should have? What does discrimination mean to you?
In the 1950s people all over the United States began fighting against segregation and other forms of discrimination. During this time African-Americans faced Jim Crow laws and other forms of discrimination. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 made it illegal to discriminate against people in public places, such as schools, businesses, and government offices. It also prohibited discrimination based on race, religion, and gender. What rights would you protest or fight for?
