Explain

• Use the slideshow to review the key concept words.
• Explain that children are going to learn about places animals live:
• Different places animals live.
• Responsibilities of having a pet.
• Positioning words.

Model

• After the host introduces the slideshow, point to the photo on screen. Ask children: What do you see in this picture? (a dog house)
• Ask children: What other types of homes have you seen for animals? (Answers will vary)
• Say: Pets have different homes than animals that live in the wild. Today we are going to learn more about the homes of wild animals. Think of an animal that isn't a pet. Where does it live? (answers will vary).

Guided Practice

• Guide children through the next four slides, showing them that animals live different places. Always have the children describe whether they would like to live in that place.

Apply

• Play the games that follow. Have them discuss with their partner the different topics that appear during the Talk About It feature.
• After the first game, ask children to talk about the responsibilities of have a pet. Different experiences they might have had. After the second game, have them discuss where different objects are placed in the room, at home, or on the playground.

Close

• Ask children: What do animals need from a home? Explain.
• Say: Remember that some animals live in the wild. Think about other places animals might live besides a desert, river, or city.
