Explain
• Use the slideshow to review the key concept words.• Explain that children are going to learn about describing and understanding:
• How to describe something.
• Things you understand.
Model
• After the host introduces the slideshow, point to the photo on screen. Ask children: What do you see in this picture? (a head).• Ask children: What are some new things that you've learned this year? (answers will vary).
• Say: Today we are going to learn about how to describe things. Describing things help us to understand. Look around your classroom, pick an object, and describe it. (answers will vary).
Guided Practice
• Guide children through the next three slides, showing them that there are many things they learned this year. Always have the children discuss a time when they did not understand something about how they managed to understand it later.Apply
• Play the games that follow. Have them discuss with their partner the different topics that appear during the Talk About It feature.• After the first game, ask children to talk about colors. After the second game, have them discuss different types of fruits and vegetables.
