Other

Explain

• Use the slideshow to review the key concept words.
• Explain that children are going to learn about the ocean:
• Animals that live in the ocean.
• What amazing means.

Model

• After the host introduces the slideshow, point to the photo on screen. Ask children: What do you see in this picture? (the ocean, waves).
• Ask children: Have you ever been to the ocean? (yes or no). What did you see there? (answers will vary).
• Say: Today we are going to learn about animals that live in the ocean. Some animals that live in the ocean are dolphins and fish. How can you survive in the ocean? (goggles, snorkel, oxygen tank, scuba gear, etc.)

Guided Practice

• Guide children through the next three slides, showing them that many kinds of fish live in the ocean, but fish aren't the only animals that live there. Always have the children describe whether they would like to live in the ocean.

Apply

• Play the games that follow. Have them discuss with their partner the different topics that appear during the Talk About It feature.
• After the first game, ask children to talk about different body parts of ocean animals. After the second game, have them discuss opposites. Can they name a pair of opposites?

Close

• Ask children: How are animals that live in the ocean different than animals that live on land? Explain.
• Say: There are many animals that live in the ocean. Some animals we might never see. Think about your favorite animal from the ocean.
