• What is movement.
• What is exercise.
• How do people exercise.
• How do people express themselves.
Model
• After the host introduces the slideshow, point to the photo on screen. Ask children: What are the people in the photo doing? (playing). What do you play outside? (answers will vary).• Ask children: How do frogs move? (by leaping).
• Say: Everyone moves a lot. The smallest things are movement. Waving our hands, and kicking our legs are all forms of movement. What animals move a lot? (dog, cat, horse, etc.)
Guided Practice
• Guide children through the next three slides, showing them different ways that people move. Always have the children describe how people are moving and why they are moving.Apply
• Have children play the games that follow. Have them discuss with their partner the different topics that appear during the Talk About It feature.• After the first game, ask children to talk about why it's important to stretch before playing. After the second game, have them discuss why watching television is not a form of exercise.
Close
• Ask children: Why is exercising good for you?• Say: Once you are active when you are little, as you grow up, you will always be active. It is good to keep moving and exercising because it is good for our health. Lots of adults go to the gym or continue to play sports. We all have gym in school because not many of us exercise. Think about why people don't exercise and try not to be the same way.
