Objectives
Students will use the Internet to do research and inquiry on the solar system.Students will choose an object in our solar system and read about it.
Students will make notes about what they have read.
Students will fill in the blanks provided on the student work sheet with the correct information about the solar system object they have studied.
Brief Description of the Internet site:
Astonomy.com is the website of Astronomy Magazine. It contains information about all things related to the observation and exploration of outer space, as well as activities for students.
Additional Suggested Activities:
Have students review the information they have read. Have them compose a poem about the solar system object they have studied and illustrate the poem with a colorful drawing of the object.
Leveled Activities:
Have students connect to http://spaceplace.jpl.nasa.gov/en/kids/. Then, have them:
click on Games and then on Space Place Live. Have them select an episode and watch an interview with an astronomer.
Have them write a list of questions that they would like to ask an astronomer.
Have them write a script for their own TV show about space exploration and observation.
