Objectives
Students will use the Internet to do research and inquiry on national parks.
Students will learn about the Everglades. 
Students will collect information about the different parts of the ecosystem supported by the Everglades.
 

Brief Description of the Internet site:

NPS.gov is the website for the National Park Service. It contains information about every national park in the United States of America.

 

Additional Suggested Activities:

Have students click on History & Culture from the menu on the left of the web page. Have them click on the links to read about the Everglades' native peoples, pioneer settlement, development, and the effort to protect this national park. 

 
Leveled Activities:
Have students http://www.anseladams.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=9. Then, have them:
look at the photographs of Yosemite National Park. Have them discuss why they think photographs like these might help people to think about protecting our national parks.
Have students use materials in the classroom to draw something beautiful they have seen in nature. Have them write a short paragraph about why it is important to protect our planet.
Have students write journal entries from the point of view of the photographer to accompany each photograph. have them write about what they feel when the see each picture.
