Explain
• Use the slideshow to review the key concept words.• Explain that children are going to learn about neighborhoods:
• Different places in a neighborhood.
• Equipment needed to help a neighborhood.
• Sequence of events.
Model
• After the host introduces the slideshow, point to the photo on screen. Ask children: What do you see in this picture? (a house).• Ask children: What kind of buildings are near your house? (answers will vary).
• Say: Today we are going to learn about neighborhoods. Neighborhoods have houses, and sometimes parks and schools. How many houses are in your neighborood? (answers will vary).
Guided Practice
• Guide children through the next four slides, showing them that a school is usually in the neighborhood near their home. Always have the children describe how their neighborhood is similar or different.Apply
• Play the games that follow. Have them discuss with their partner the different topics that appear during the Talk About It feature.• After the first game, ask children to talk about equipment found at the places in a neighborhood. After the second game, have them discuss doing things in order. After the third game, have children talk about the order of things they do to get ready for school in the morning.

• Ask children: What are some places you have seen in your neighborhood that we haven't talked about about today? Explain.• Say: There are many places and people in your neighborhood. Think about people you see and places you pass on your way to school each day.
