Objectives
• The students will use the Internet to do research and inquiry on citizens.
• The students will learn more about citizens.
• The students will complete an online exercise by reading about citizenship. The students will also write definitions to words regarding citizenship.
Description
This site is presented by, Ben's Guide to U.S. Government for kids. It is a site sponsored by the U.S. government to teach kids about the U.S. government. The site is geared towards K through 12 and has resources for parents and teachers.
Suggested Activities
• Have students talk about what it means to be a good citizen.
Level Activities
• Have the students connect to http://americanepic.org/freewaystory/index.html. Then have students:
read and listen to the audio story. Have students click on the arrow to advance to the next page.
write a paragraph about the main issues being discussed in the video.
perform a skit based on the video. Have some students pretend to be from Oakville and some from the city council. Let both present their case and then come to a resolution.
