Objectives

• Students will use the Internet to find out about two students who received an award for environmental problem• solving.
• Students will work with partners to identify a problem in their community, state, or country.
• Students will think of a possible solution to the problem and give a creative presentation to the class.

Description

This Web site is written by National Geographic and features articles about children who have worked creatively to solve environmental problems locally and internationally.

Suggested Activities

• Have students use their lists to plan a project that will help their environment.
• Have students click on http://www.barronprize.org/ or find the link at the bottom of the Web page to find out more about the Barron Prize.

Level Activities

Approaching click on and read It's Not Waste Until You Waste It.
On level create PowerPoint slides based upon the information they have learned on this site.
Beyond form small groups and design a board game to both entertain and teach fellow students about waste problems and solutions.
