4th Grade, Research and Inquiry Activities

2. Read the section Four Pounds of Garbage and and answer the following questions based on the graph:
How much garbage does an average American throw away per day?
Which country throws away the most garbage per person?
Which country on the chart throws away the least amount of garbage per person?
3. Think about your average day. On the back of the page, write a list of things you throw away on a typical day.
4. Look at your list and see which of these objects that you throw away could be recycled. Could you find a way to throw away less stuff? How?
5. Cross out items from your list of garbage that you could reuse or eliminate.
