Check to make sure your child is making a list of homework assignments.
During homework time, do some quiet work, too, such as organizing your calendar for the week, cooking, cleaning, checking email, or reading.
Ask your child if he or she wants help.
Set aside time to read together every night. Choose books or poems that you enjoy. Consult your local library for lists of read-aloud books you will both enjoy!

What are you learning about?
Who do you like to play with/work with?
Notice what your child talks about the most. Listen for interests and engagement. Share stories about your day.
