Explain
• Use the slideshow to review the key concept words.• Explain that children are going to learn about growing:
• How animals change and grow.
• Matching baby animals and parents.
Model
• After the host introduces the slideshow, point to the photo on screen. Ask children: What do you see in this picture? (a horse and a colt)• Ask children: What animal is this? (a horse). How do you think you could take care of a horse? (give it hay, give it water, keep it warm).
• Say: Today we are going to learn about how animals grow and change. How do you grow and change? (answers will vary).
Guided Practice
• Guide children through the next three slides, showing them that there are many different animals; not all animals need the same type of food and care. Always have the children describe what they need to grow.Apply
• Play the games that follow. Have them discuss with their partner the different topics that appear during the Talk About It feature.• After the first game, ask children to talk about baby animals have the parents too. Animals grow and change just like humans. After the second game, have them discuss where things are located in the classroom.
