6th Grade, Research and Inquiry Activities

1. Connect to this link: http://www.mentoring.org/mentors/index.php.
2. Adults often volunteer to mentor children. Read BECOMING A MENTOR. Then click on What is your role as a mentor? on the right side of the screen to read about what mentors do.

3. Click Support for Mentors then Real Mentoring Stories in the left menu bar. Click the pictures of mentors to read about their experiences.

4. Pretend that the Web site is having a contest for "Mentor of the Year." Think about someone in your life who has acted as a mentor to you. Write a letter to the Web site to nominate your mentor. Describe why you think this person should win the contest. How has this person helped you? Why is this person a good mentor?
