Description

Suzy's World is a Web site based on Suzy Cato's television series that takes children on different science discoveries. It is designed by teachers and there are fact sheets, jokes and videos.

Have students connect to: http://www.pbs.org/goldrush/. Click on Fun Facts. • Have students share their journal entries with a partner.

Level Activities

Leveled Activities: Have students connect to http://www.museumca.org/goldrush/fever19.html and read the information. Click on the right hand icon to go forward. Read the information there. Then have the students:
 draw a picture showing how miners looked for gold.
 design a poster that will convince people to move West and join the Gold Rush.
 create an advertisement for a newspaper in the East that lists possible job opportunities to convince people to move West.
