Explain
• Use the slideshow to review the key concept words.• Explain that children are going to learn about friends:
• What a friend is.
• What activities you can do with friends.
• Different types of friends.
Model
• After the host introduces the slideshow, point to the photo on screen. Ask children: What do you see in this picture? (friends walking in a park).• Ask children: What are the friends doing? (walking in a park, holding hands). How do you know they are friends? (answers may vary)
• Say: In this activity we are going to learn about favorite things friends like to do together. Some friends like to play or read together. What activities do you like to do with your friends? (answers will vary).
Guided Practice
• Guide children through the next three slides, showing them how to be a friend. Always have the children describe what makes a good friend.Apply
• Play the games that follow. Have them discuss with their partner the different topics that appear during the Talk About It feature.• After the first game, ask children to talk about their friends. After the second game, have them discuss different colors. After the third game, have children discuss colors they see in the classroom.
