Read the Report Card together with your child. Praise the child for positive teacher comments, anecdotes, or grades. Encourage your child to respond to this form of communication.

If your child receives an unexpected grade or comment:
  • Talk to your child about the reasons for the grade or comment.
  • Talk to the teacher about the reasons for the grade or comment.
  • Find out what steps to take to work on improvement, such as getting extra help or reminding the child about the classroom expectations.
