You Can Do It!

Objectives

• Children will use the computer to do research and inquiry on overcoming obstacles.
• Cchildren will learn more about different obstacles that other children face.
• Cchildren will complete a worksheet by answering questions about something difficult that they still want to do, and drawing pictures of their answers.

Suggested Activities

• Have children look at the pictures on the Web site. Ask them to think about other things that they see or use in their daily lives that help people learn a skill, or improve at it. Make a list on the chalkboard of the item and the skill to which it is related.
• Collect the worksheets from the children. At the end of the year, re• distribute each worksheet to the same child that completed it. Ask each child to explain what they wanted to accomplish when they completed their worksheets. Ask them if they did what they thought they needed to do to accomplish this goal, and whether or not they were able to accomplish it. If not, encourage them to try to learn the skill over the summer.
