Objectives
• Children will use the Internet to do research and inquiry on Africa.
• Children will learn more about African countries.
• Children will select an African country from a list and read facts about it. They will then list three facts about that country on a worksheet.
Description
This site is presented by the Afro• American Newspapers, a news provider in the DC metropolitan area. It has a children's information page with activities and information about Africa.
Suggested Activities
• From the main Web site, have children click on Myths & Fables. Then have children choose one of the fables and read it on• screen.
• Have children illustrate a scene from the fable they read.
Level Activities
• Have children connect to http://pbskids.org/africa/tale/index.html. Then have children:
Read the introduction and click on Start the Story. Then have children listen to the story by clicking on the audio icon and follow along. Children will be asked to answer multiple choice questions to determine the end of the story.
Have children write a response to the story.
Have children share their response with the class.
