Explain
• Use the slideshow to review the key concept words.• Explain that students are going to learn about the sea:
• What is the sea.
• The significance of the sea.
• What lives in the sea.
• How do sea animals live in the sea.
• What is snorkeling.
Model
• After the host introduces the slideshow, point to the photo on screen. Ask students: What do you see in this photo? (turtle, fish, coral). How are these animals different from those that live on land? (have fins, and they don't walk, they swim).• Ask students: How is living in a sea different from living on land? (Living on land, you are living above water. You will need equipment to breathe and see in the water. You would swim, not walk.)
• Say: A sea is a body of water that is much smaller than an ocean and is usually enclosed by land. There are many seas around the world. Some are the Black Sea, Red Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea. Would you like to live in the sea? Why? (answers will vary).
Guided Practice
• Guide students through the next three slides, showing them why seas are important by asking how the animals in the photos are of benefit to humans. Always have the students describe the sea animals that they see.Apply
• Play the games that follow. Have them discuss with their partner the different topics that appear during the Talk About It feature.• After the first game, ask students to talk about the problems facing seas and sea life. After the second game have students talk about whether they've used some of the breathing equipment.

• Ask students: What are the benefits of snorkeling?• Summarize for students that snorkeling can be loads of fun since you can swim with the animals and see beautiful coral. Snorkeling helps us to understand the animals that live in the sea and also helps us to learn more about the sea. Encourage them to think about whether they would go snorkeling.
