• Students will make a case for the invention they believe had the largest impact on humans and present their case to the class.
Description
This Web page is part of a Web site on Chinese culture. The site is organized according to different areas of study including math, social studies, language arts, celebrations and customs, and the arts.
Suggested Activities
• Have students connect to http://www.newton.mec.edu/Angier/DimSum/Chinese%20Character%20Lesson.html, another link on the Dim Sum site. This page provides a list of common Chinese characters along with their English meanings. Have students copy the characters onto a piece of paper along with their English names. Ask: What connection can you see between the character and the thing that it describes?
Level Activities
• Have students connect to http://www.chinavista.com/travel/virtualtours.html and next to Beijing, click on Forbidden City. Then have students click their way through the tour and:
read the text about the city.
read the text and draw a picture of their favorite stop on the tour.
read the text and choose one stop on the tour to describe to the class.
