Explain
• Use the slideshow to review the key concept words. • Explain that children are going to learn about changes in a family:• The definition of a relative.
• How a person changes.
• Ways a family changes.
Model
• After the host introduces the slideshow, point to the photo on screen. Ask children: What do you see in this picture? (people, a family)• Ask children: What are all of the people to each other? (relatives) What are relatives? (people in a family)
• Say: In this activity we are going to learn about relatives. Some people have many relatives and some people have few relatives. Who are your relatives? (answers will vary).
Guided Practice
• Guide children through the next four slides, showing them that families are made up of relatives and how families change. Always have the children describe how the families have changed.Apply
• Play the games that follow. Have them discuss with their partner the different topics that appear during the Talk About It feature.• After the first game, ask children to talk about the ways a person changes. After the second game, have them discuss different things that are small.

• Ask children: What are things that happen to make families change? Explain.• Say: Families change all the time! Families change because people change by becoming older! Think about how your family will change as you grow up.
