Explain
• Use the slideshow to review the key concept words.• Explain that children are going to learn about jobs:
• Different types of jobs in your community.
• The definition of a celebration.
• Reasons we have celebrations.
Model
• After the host introduces the slideshow, point to the photo on screen. Ask children: What do you see in this picture? (firefighters).• Ask children: What job would you like to do when you are a grown up? (answers will vary).
• Say: Today we are going to learn about jobs people have in our community. Some jobs that people have are police officers, doctors, and firefighters. What kinds of jobs do you know people have in your neighborhood? (answers will vary).
Guided Practice
• Guide children through the next three slides, showing them that there are different jobs in the neighborhood. Always have the children describe what job they would like to have.Apply
• Play the games that follow. Have them discuss with their partner the different topics that appear during the Talk About It feature.• After the first game, ask children to talk about jobs people have in their neighborhood. After the second game, have them discuss what happened first, next, and last at the firehouse. Have them name something else that happens first, next, and last.

• Ask children: How can you help in your neighborhood? Explain.• Say: Everyone has a job in the neighborhood. Everyone's job is different. As we learn about neighborhood jobs, think about the jobs that people you know have.
