Other

Explain

• Use the slideshow to review the key concept words.
• Explain that children are going to learn about friends helping one another:
• Having friends of other cultures.
• Playing with friends.
• Helping friends.

Model

• After the host introduces the slideshow, point to the photo on screen. Ask children: What do you see in this picture? (kids, friends)
• Ask children: Do you have friends that are different than you? (Yes). How are they different? (taller, shorter, different color hair).
• Say: In this activity we are going to learn more about how to help a friend. Sometimes you can help a friend by listening to them. When have your friends helped you? (answers will vary).

Guided Practice

• Guide children through the next three slides, showing them that children from all over the world have friends, play games, and have toys. Always have the children describe how the friends are helping each other.

Apply

• Play the games that follow. Have them discuss with their partner the different topics that appear during the Talk About It feature.
• After the first game, ask children to talk about the ways they saw friends helping with one another. After the second game, have them discuss number words and counting objects.

Close

• Ask children: What can you do to help a friend? Explain.
• Say: Being a good friend means that you not only play with your friends, but you also help your friends when they need help. Think about different ways you can help your friends.
